Located in historic Cross Village, Legs Inn is one of Northern Michigan's most unique landmarks. Perched on a bluff overlooking Lake Michigan, the restaurant is known for its distinctive architecture, authentic Polish cuisine and unforgettable setting. Legs Inn was the vision of Polish immigrant Stanley Smolak, who fell in love with Northern Michigan and its residents, including the Ottawa and Chippewa, and settled in Cross Village in 1921. Inspired by the area's natural beauty, he designed and built a restaurant unlike any other. Inside, the foyer, tavern, game room, and dining rooms feature hand-carved furniture, driftwood sculptures, twisted tree roots and branches, and massive fieldstone fireplaces. Nearly every detail reflects Smolak's creativity and deep appreciation for nature. Over the years, Legs Inn has become a beloved dining destination, welcoming visitors from around the world. Its rich history, one-of-a-kind atmosphere, and spectacular views continue to make it a favorite stop for generations of guests.
