What is Artificial Intelligence (AI)? Should you be worried about AI? Michael Watson, adjunct professor at Northwestern University, will provide a non-technical talk on AI for a general audience at 7:30 pm Tuesday, July 25 in Voorhies Hall in Bay View. When people talk about AI, they are actually talking about many different things. This talk unpacks these different definitions and uses plenty of real-world examples. The goal is to give you intuition on what it means for a machine to learn with some fun examples. This is a fast-moving field with many experts weighing in. Michael is a lifelong Bay View resident and a popular speaker. In 2023, he has given guest lectures at the Chennai Mathematical Institute, IIT Bombay, Purdue, Carleton, and the US Air Force Academy’s Leadership Conference. He has been an adjunct professor at Northwestern University since 1999. He teaches Master’s-level courses in Operations Excellence, Managerial Analytics, and Optimization. This live presentation is part of the Campus Club of Bay View Tuesday evening lecture series. It is free and open to the public.
