A Harbor Springs City Council Candidates Forum, sponsored by the Harbor Springs Chamber of Commerce, will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, October 16th at Harbor Springs City Hall. The public is invited, and all five city council and mayor candidates have confirmed that they will participate. Moderators will be Jim Baumann, executive director of the chamber, and Rachel Smolinski, executive director of HARBOR, Inc.
There are two candidates competing for Mayor in the November election - Council member Matt Bugera and DDA board member Mary Ellen Hughes. Mayor Bill Brown is not running for reelection.
Three candidates will be on the ballot for two seats on the City Council. Long-time council member and former mayor Pringle Pfeifer is running for reelection. Also on the ballot will be restaurant owner Mike Naturkas and former Council member Cece Johnston.
Candidates will give opening and closing statements and will answer questions from the moderators and written questions from the audience. If you can't attend, but have questions you'd like to ask, email jim@harborspringschamber.com. Each question will be asked of all candidates.
EMMET COUNTY COMMISSION CANDIDATES FORUM will be held Monday, October 8th, at Beards Brewery, 215 E. Lake St., Petoskey. There will be a Meet & Greet from 5 to 5:30 p.m. followed by the candidates forum from 5:30 to 6:30. This forum is sponsored by Forward Action Michigan. Details.
STATE LEGISLATURE CANDIDATES FORUM will be held Wednesday, Oct. 10 at the Iron Horse Café on the campus of North Central Michigan College. Doors will open at 6 p.m. for a meet and greet with the candidates and the moderated forum will begin at 7.
