City Council Online Candidates Forum

The Chamber is sponsoring a Candidates Forum for Harbor Springs Mayor and City Council. The forum will be held via Zoom at 7 p.m. Monday, September 28th and will be available for the public to watch and participate.

We encourage the public to watch the Zoom Forum live, and we will also record the forum so anyone can watch it later. We will post that link on our website and in the Harbor Happenings newsletter. Moderator for the forum will be Bonnie Kulp, executive director of the chamber.

All six candidates originally committed to participate in the forum, but Council member Mike Naturkas has notified the chamber that he will be out of town and will not participate. Four candidates are on the ballot for two City Council positions now held by Naturkas and Cece Johnston. The challengers are former Mayor Al Dika and former A.J. Pontius Flower Shop owner Nancy Rondel.

Bill Mulder is running for mayor against incumbent Matt Bugera, who owns The New York Restaurant. Mulder is a retired senior manager for AT&T and is currently a board member of Harbor, Inc.

In the forum, each candidate will make opening and closing statements and will answer questions from the chamber and the public. Those who are watching the forum live may submit questions via Zoom. We also encourage the public to submit questions in advance via email to director@harborspringschamber.com. Questions should be designed so they are asked of all candidates.
